Profile: Kim Alexander
Kim believes wholeheartedly in the power of the arts to support the positive social, emotional and educational development of both individuals and communities. She has extensive experience working with children in schools, and designing and delivering participatory arts projects for children, teenagers and young adults around the world.
Kim holds a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and a Postgrad Diploma in Character Animation and is qualified as an Arts Award Adviser at Silver and Bronze levels.
Fully committed to inclusion in education, Kim's practice is informed by a PDC in Therapeutic Communication for Work with Children, with a focus on wellbeing. She holds an up-to-date DBS on the online update system.
In her commercial animation practice Kim specialises in traditional 2D frame-by-frame animation, vector-based 2D animation and stop-motion. She has over 12 years of industry experience working on both independent and commercial animations for short films, TV and web broadcast. Clients including Google, the BBC, Virgin Media, Vodafone Childline, the NSPCC and Alzheimer’s research among many others.
Kim has experience both collaborating as part of an animation team at studios including Aardman, Nomint and Superdoodle, as well as directing independently for clients including Random House and the University of Nottingham. She also has experience storyboarding both for animation and live action commercial campaigns.
Kim particularly enjoys working on projects that have a positive social or educational impact.
