Textural Threads: Meryem Meg

Exciting my love of weaving together pattern and colour from various cultures, I was really interested to see how Algerian-Bulgarian artist Meryem Meg adopts North African marks and symbol into her artwork to explore themes of fertility, birth and the cycles of nature. Meg states that her intention is to "empower women through her visual affirmations".

Seen at the exhibition Awan: Textural Threads at London's Richmix alongside works by artists:

Takwa Barnosa (Libya)

Nasreen Shaikh Jamal Al-Lail (Saudi Arabia)

Dima Nashwai (Syria)

Hania Zaazou (Algeria)
